Military flights to repatriate US citizens from Panama

Two US military flights  will arrive in Panama  on Thursday, April 2  to repatriate its citizens and legal permanent residents who are not sick,  with  COVID-19, said the American embassy on Sunday

The flights, which will arrive at military bases Florida and Texas, will have “a limited number of seats available”, and the US authorities are in the “process of notifying people who have already expressed their interest in being evacuated from Panama on the flights.

A passenger who is ill, he will not be allowed to fly. “Before leaving Panama and upon arrival in the United States, passengers will undergo a temperature control,” said the official information, adding that “all passengers must sign a promissory note to guarantee payment of the required fare “for the flight.

The US Embassy said  that “additional Defense Department flights are projected until April 9, with limited seats,” and that the diplomatic legation “will continue to investigate additional military and civilian trade options.”

The United States Embassy in Panama has been working since March 17 with reduced personnel and its consular section “closed for routine services until further notice.”
