Swiss team brings Panama to earth with 6-0 romp

After a strong performance in a friendly World Cup warm-up match  against Denmark when they lost 1-0,  and and an  earlier  1-0 loss to Wales, albeit without Welsh and Real Madrid star Gareth Bales, Panama’s soccer team looked as if they would  not be totally out of their league heading into their debut in the World Cup.

But the boys in red got a reality check Tuesday, March 27 when they were thrashed 6-0 by Switzerland in Lucerne. But they can take consolation in the fact that bigger fish have also faced heavy defeats. On the same day Argentina, without Lionel Messi went down to Spain 6-1.

Brazil on the other hand which suffered a humiliating 7-1 loss to  Germany in the last World Cup tied 1-1 with Germany in a  friendly game on Tuesday.
