Tonosi Valley has 58% of hantavirus cases

Reports Carlos Muñoz, Regional coordinator of epidemiology of the Ministry of Health (Minsa) in Los Santos. Nineteen cases have been confirmed in the province , seven of fever due to hantavirus and 12 of the cardiopulmonary syndrome.
In Tonosí there are eleven cases, Guararé , Pocrí one, Las Tablas five and Los Santos one. Pedasí, so far this year, has no registered cases. but on the other hand, two weeks ago Minsa confirmed the first case by cardiopulmonary syndrome by hantavirus, from the community of El Guayabal, where this disease had not been seen since it was first detected in 1999.
The health authorities have been emphatic in pointing out the imposition of fines of up to $500 for people who maintain risk factors in their households.
