Poisoned baby deaths hearing opened

A HEARING  for 15 people facing charges in the poisoning if 10 babies in the neonatal unit of the Social Security  Arnulfo Arias Madrid Hospital Complex in 2013 opened on Wednesday Nov. 16.

The babies were accidentally poisoned with benzyl alcohol and heparin.

The preliminary hearing  in the Fifth Criminal Court was originally set for Oct. 12, but was postponed due to the lack of notice to two of the defense lawyers.

Only defendants, their lawyers, prosecutors and family members of the victims were allowed in the hearing.
