Mossack Fonseca deliberately violated laws – informant

WHILE PANAMA law firm Mossack Fonseca is seeking to block the release of its files on Monday, April 9 , the original whistleblower has announced that the firm “deliberately violated” countless laws worldwide” and the source is willing to cooperate with the authorities of the different jurisdictions that decide to investigate the activities of the firm.

The German newspaper  Sueddeutsche Zeitung, which received the original  documents  and  in turn shared them  with the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) has   released a statement from its informant, in which it undertakes to collaborate, since the ICIJ has said that will not provide the documents directly to the authorities. The informant’s statement t read: “My decision to share documents with Süddeutsche Zeitung and the ICIJ, was not for political purposes, but simply because I understood enough about its contents to understand the level of injustices described.”

The source, whose identity was not disclosed, said that it does not work for governments or intelligence agencies. Nor did it say  precisely how it obtained the 11.5 million documents shared that uncovered alleged illegal practices through offshore companies.

“The narrative of the mainstream media so far has focused on the scandal of what is legal and allowed in the system. What is permitted is clearly controversial and should be changed. But we must not lose sight of another important factor: the firm, its founders and employees themselves deliberately violated countless laws worldwide, repeatedly. They cried innocence to the public but the documents show detailed knowledge and acts of bad faith deliberately, “and predicts that” it will take years, perhaps decades, before  the full extent of the sordid acts of the firm is known. “
