Alert follows tourist drowning death
A WARNING for Red Frog Beach swimmers to be aware of strong waves and currents has been issued by the Civil Defense Agency,(Sinaproc)
The warning comes after a German tourist drowned at the beach on Saturday at the beach. Karl Jasper, 65, drowned Saturday January 16 while swimming at the beach, located on Bastimentos Island, at about 3:55 p.m.
The beach is a favorite among swimmers and surfers due to its waves, but officials said that anyone entering the water needs to be aware of the potential dangers.
A warning has also been issue about seasonal high winds and waves of two meters on both coasts, peaking on January 20.
