One dead, three rogue cops arrested in highway drug bust

A police chase involving a pirate bus that began in Plaza  Cinco de Mayo and  ended in Ariajan – led to the death of the driver, the capture of   half a ton of drugs and the arrest of three  rogue police officers.

The driver was killed in a shoot-out with pursuing police  who were part of  operation “ Safe Beach” which had been planned for months by a police drug intelligence unit said National Police Commissioner Omar Pinzon , at a Tuesday press conferenceThe chase began when the bus failed to stop at a police check point in the Plaza.

The arrested  police officers  have not been identified

The operation was part  of plan “working on the integrity of the institution to become more transparent. “
