BARRO BLANCO: Indigenous leaders want to talk to bosses

INDIGENOUS leaders have decided to walk away from the dialogue with government “assistants”over the Barro Blanco hydroelectric project.

The leaders have demanded that President Juan Carlos Varela or Vice President Isabel de Saint Malo meet with them independently.
Speaking on behalf of the Indigenous Commission, Regional Chief Gallardo Chito said that they will not hear any proposals from “assistants,” referring to Vice Minister Luis Miguel Hincapié, who is representing the government.
The two sides were to have met in Tolé on Friday, July 17
