29 alternate deputies said double dipping

A COMPLANT over ”double dipping” by 29 alternate deputies has been lodged with Panama’s Supreme Court .

The move was made on Monday July 13 by Lawyer Ernesto Cedeño. alleging that the alternates receive double compensation from the state.
Cedeño provided as evidence, a report of the Office of the Comptroller General. Showing that explained that each of the alternates received a monthly salary of $2,000 and also worked in other state agencies.
The list included Armando Guerra Atencio, deputy director of the National Lottery, Jorge Aquiles Domínguez Barahona, deputy director of the Institute of Agricultural Marketing and Alida Spadafora, an official of the Municipality of Panama, among others.
Cedeño said that the alternates who hold other jobs should be forced to resign their seats, as the action is prohibited.
