Investigation of alleged electoral fraud

Officials of the Electoral Tribunal (TE) on Tuesday, July 16, continued their examination of records of the Community Board of Puerto de Remedios as part of their investigation into alleged irregularities in the race between Jorge Alberto Rosas and Ana Giselle Rosas de Vallarino, who won the election.

Lawyers for Rosas said they found evidence in which state resources were used to pay political activists who supported Vallarino. These include checks that were issued by the Community Board.
Rosas also alleged that the board made payments totaling $400,000 for contracts that were never carried out. Vallarino has denied any wrongdoing.
