Reported Panama sexual violations up 62 percent
REPORTED SEXUAL violations in Panama increased by 62 % in 2013 over the previous year, says a management report of special prosecutors for crimes against sexual freedom and integrity.
Women were the main victims of attacks and complaints of sexual violation rose from 1,190 submitted in 2012, to 1.934 processed in 2013.
The report also reflects charges of rape, sexual acts, sexual harassment, corruption of minors , sexual exploitation and child pornography , among others , which added to the violations creates a total of 4,431 cases reported in 2013.
This equates to the committing of a sexual offense a least every two hours in Panama says a La Prensa report.
