Panama traffic management plan languishing

PANAMA’S Transit Authority’s $40 million master traffic management plan is running five month’s behind, and customs hold ups are being blamed for delays in completion.

Operations Chief of the Authority, Carlos Ayuso, says that the project is advanced, however the Spanish company Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas (FCC), SA "Has had customs problems" and they are still waiting for computers from South America.reports La Prensa.

 These technical parts must be installed in the control tower, located on the 19th floor of the building of the National Lottery, on Avenida Cuba, where vehicular traffic will be monitored.

The project costing $40 million is to install 70 vehicle surveillance cameras, 35 information panels, 30 traffic lights at major intersections and 100 speed sensors.
