Deputies move to strike down foreign doctor law

PANAMEÑISTA deputies Luis Eduardo Quiros and Miguel Salas presented a proposal on Thursday, October 10 to the plenary of the National Assembly to repeal the law which allows the hiring of foreign doctors.

Quiros, who presented the draft to his colleagues, said that this is the time to repeal the law and open a dialogue with striking health organizations..

The work stoppage called by different groups in the health sector reached 15 days on Thursday and no meetings planned are between them and the government.
The unions represent Doctors, nurses,laboratory and health technicians.
While doctors insist on the repeal of the law, which was signed Oct. 3 by President Ricardo Martinelli, the government maintains that it will benefit the country.
