La Prensa website blocked during alleged bribery revelations
Access to La Prensa’s website ( www.prensa.com) was blocked for eight hours on Wednesday October 9 while carrying recordings of alleged bribery conversations.
Readers , attempting to access certain information on pages of the site got a "error" message . This affected access to some pages or , depending on the user's browser, the entire site.
In particular, said La Prensa on Thursday “The main news regarding the investigation of alleged bribes and negotiations of the Italian Valter Lavítola with relatives of the president, Ricardo Martinelli , and his government officials , could be not accessed by readers nor updated by the newspaper’s reporters .
“The audios, which are part of the investigation , could be heard by being housed in the La Prensa channel on YouTube. The three parts include a recorded conversation, which is in the hands of the Italian authorities in which you hear the president's namesake son during a conversation with Valter Lavítola and Mauro Velocci agreeing to the delivery of a helicopter.”
The blockading of the La Prensa website coincided with the release of a statement that his son, Ricardo Martinelli Linares , denies having negotiated,
President Martinelli said in his Twitter account that La Prensa " invented the lock " .
