Lockdown violators roam as virus deaths reach 66

Predictions by health authorities that the number of cases of  COVID-19  would reach 2,000 by Good Friday, April 10 were surpassed by  Thursday when a  surge of 254 new  patients  brought the total  to  2,752 with 66 deaths confirming warnings that  April  will be a critical month

the first Panama death was reported, on March 10  and 48 were over 60 years old.

But quarantine violators continue to roam the streets with 469 arrested in the last 24 hours,

Security Ministry, Juan Pino said: “Staying at home is a way to minimize the spread and transmission of the virus; let’s not give it  the opportunity to continue causing mourning and pain to other Panamanian families,” stressing that this Saturday and Sunday there is a total quarantine.

Lourdes Moreno, the head of epidemiology at MINSA, announced that 16 patients had defeated the virus. Some 303 remain hospitalized and 524 are confined in hotels.
