3% of virus deaths among people over 60
Three out of every four people who die of coronavirus in Panama are over 60 years old leading doctors from the Technical Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Health to suggest that social distancing continues in this segment of the population.
Javier Nieto, part of the team said that after almost two months of the pandemic this sector of the population is still the most susceptible to hospitalization and death. Of 188 deaths from Covid-19, 138 (73%) were over 60 years of age
On the other hand, of the 6,532 accumulated cases registered in the country so far, 5,569 (85%) are under 59 years and have become the “contagion engine” of the virus.
