Gorgas institute gets $2million for rapid testing as virus cases pass 10,000
As Panama passed the 10,000 mark of Covid-19, cases the Ministry of Health (Minsa) reported, on Thursday, May 21, that $2 million was awarded to the Gorgas Institute, to obtain “As a priority” for more rapid tests.
The coronavirus cases increased to 10,116 (139 new), while the deaths reached 291).
Clinically recovered patients are 6,245. and in-home isolation there are 3,236 people (649 in hospital hotels).
344 hospitalized patients were reported: 278 inwards and 66 in intensive care units.
To date, 53,928 tests have been performed, of these 41,932 were negative and 11,996 positive.
