Shopping by gender returns as covid deaths surge
Shopping by gender is back and new quarantine and curfew measures introduced as the health system reaches a critical point with one Covid-19 death every 51minutes
Women will only be able to enter commercial premises on December 21, 23, 28 and 30, and men, on December 22, 24, 29 and 31.
Quarantine, will start from 7:00 pm on December 24 to 5:00 am on December 28. and from 7:00 pm on December 31 to 5:00 am on January 4, 2021.
The Health authority reported that from Saturday several rooms and beds will be enabled in the Nicolás Solano hospitals, in West Panama (25 beds), Santo Tomás, in Panama (31 beds), and the old Luis “Chicho” Fábrega, in Veraguas (20 beds).
Panama has been reporting a high number of daily Covid-19 cases since November, a situation that worsened in December. First there were 2,000 new infections per day and this week the 3,000 barrier was passed.
Between December 11 and 17, there were 194 deaths from Covid-19 in the country, which represents one every 51 minutes, on average. And on Thursday, Panama reached 42 deaths in 24 hours.
