Heavy Rain Advisory for Several Provinces.

The Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology of Panama (Imhpa) issued a rain watch for several provinces and regions of the country, valid until Thursday, November 5th, 2026.

According to the forecast, atmospheric conditions will favor rainfall in different regions of the country, with accumulations that could reach between 201 (7.9 inches) and 280 millimeters (11 inches) in some areas.

The notice includes the provinces of Bocas del Toro, Chiriquí, Veraguas, Los Santos, Herrera, Coclé, Colón, Panamá Oeste, Panamá and Darién, as well as the Ngäbe-Buglé, Guna Yala and Emberá-Wounaan regions.

The Imhpa explained that the presence of the monsoon trough and a low-pressure system to the north of the country favor the entry of moisture from the Pacific Ocean towards the Panamanian isthmus, which generates a more unstable atmosphere and conditions conducive to rain.

According to the Imhpa forecast, the expected heavy rainfall areas are as follows:

Southern Chiriquí, central and southern Veraguas and mountainous areas of the Azuero peninsula.

Northern Chiriquí, Bocas del Toro, Ngäbe-Buglé region, northern Veraguas, eastern Azuero Peninsula, Costa Abajo of Colón, eastern Panama and Darién.

The agency warned that the rains could increase soil saturation, potentially raising river levels, causing flash floods, and triggering landslides.

Sinaproc recommends:

Avoid crossing rivers, streams, and flooded streets.

Do not stay near rivers, waterways or areas prone to landslides.

Clean drains and keep drainage channels clear.

Secure roofs and objects that could be moved by the wind.

Disconnect electrical equipment if water enters the home, provided it is safe to do so.

Keep an emergency kit ready and follow the instructions of the authorities.

Move to a safe place at the first sign of danger.

Sinaproc also asked to be especially aware of children and the elderly.
