A United States Organization Sent Tents to Panama to Assist Victims.
Panama City: Panama received a shipment of tents early Friday morning sent as support by the US organization Rescue Response to assist families whose homes were affected by the earthquake of October 9. The Secretary of Goals, José Ramón Icaza, reported that the cooperation includes rigid tents of approximately 18 square meters, whose assembly and testing began after their arrival, around 1:00 am. The intention is to set up the tents next to homes that have been classified with yellow or red labels, as an alternative for families who cannot use their homes normally. Icaza indicated that authorities have assessed more than 12,000 homes in the four provinces affected by the earthquake. He also noted that since Thursday, they have intensified the placement of signs to inform families about the safety conditions of their homes.

The classification includes three categories: green, for homes considered habitable; yellow, for those where entry is permitted with restricted access to safe areas; and red, for those declared uninhabitable. The official explained that the measure aims to ensure families are aware of the conditions of their homes before returning, especially when there are risks related to structural elements or possible collapses. The Secretary of Goals recalled the activation on the Panama Connect platform of an information system developed by the National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc), which allows users to consult data on the homes affected by province and district. Icaza pointed out that the objective is to keep the data updated and make it easier for the population to consult the results of the evaluations carried out by the competent authorities.

The Secretary of Goals reported that an information system developed by the National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) has been enabled on the Panama Conecta platform, which allows users to consult data on homes affected by province and district.
