Panama covid cases on 4-week downward curve
Cases of Covid-19 in Panama have registered a downward trend in the last four weeks, says the biweekly report by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO).
The international body details that in the third wave of the pandemic the country is experiencing, a plateau was observed in the epidemic curve when in Epidemiological Week 29 (from July 18 to 24), 1,000 to 1,500 cases were registered and that from that time has been going downhill.
“Thus, from EW29 to EW31 a decrease of 33.6% was obtained, going from a daily average of 1,081 cases to 809, and from EW31 to EW33 of 19.8%, reaching an average of 675 daily confirmations with a variation between 444 and 862 in the last week ”, highlights the PAHO.
Similarly, it is explained that the downward pattern is evidenced with an average of 7,302 cases per week between EW26 and EW29, following a downward trend in the last four weeks.
It explained that 4,723 cases are reported in EW33, which represents a decrease of 19.9% in relation to the EW31 report, which was 5,661 cases.
Positivity in recent weeks has varied from 8.5% in EW29 to EW31 to 7% in EW33 (August 15 to 21).
The downward trend is also observed in active cases, since on July 26, Panama reported a total of 12,998, while on Thursday, August 26, the Ministry of Health registered 8,245.
