Two Bus Drivers were Caught Racing in Panama East and Fined Twenty Five Hundred Dollars by ATTT.

The Transit and Land Transportation Authority (ATTT) fined two drivers of public transportation vehicles $2,500 each after they were caught racing in the Panama East area.  According to the agency, one of the drivers made a dangerous maneuver by moving towards the ditch to overtake the other vehicle, an action that could have put the passengers and other road users at risk.  In addition to the sanction for racing, the ATTT reported that in this case the corresponding fine for disorderly handling was also applied. 

Bus Drivers Performed Dangerous Maneuvers.

The authority noted that this type of behavior represents a risk to those who use public transportation and to other drivers on the road.  The maneuver to overtake on the ditch was considered especially dangerous, because it was carried out while both vehicles were racing on the public road.  The ATTT reiterated that racing and dangerous maneuvers are unacceptable and reminded drivers that they must respect traffic laws.  The agency warned that racing on the streets can cause accidents and endanger passengers, pedestrians, and other drivers. 

ATTT Warns of Sanctions.

With these sanctions, the authority reiterated its call to public transport operators to maintain responsible driving and avoid any behavior that could jeopardize road safety.  The ATTT indicated that it will continue to apply the corresponding sanctions for this type of infraction.
