Fuel prices in Panama will change starting this Friday, August 21, 2026, with a reduction in the cost of 95 and 91 octane gasoline, while low sulfur diesel will register an increase.  The National Energy Secretariat announced the new maximum retail prices that will be in effect at service stations throughout the Republic of Panama for the coming period. The new prices will take effect at 6:00 a.m. on Friday, August 21, and will remain in effect until 5:59 a.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026. 

How Much will Gasoline Cost from August 21st?

According to the new prices announced by the National Energy Secretariat, the fuel prices will be as follows:

  • 95 octane gasoline will have a reduction of 4 cents per liter and will be at $1.23.
  • Meanwhile, 91-octane gasoline will decrease by 3 cents and will have a maximum price of $1.16 per liter.
  • Meanwhile, low-sulfur diesel will increase by 1 cent and will be at $1.35 per liter.

When will the New Prices Take Effect?

The new maximum retail prices will begin to be applied from 6:00 am on Friday, August 21, 2026. The measure will remain in effect until 5:59 am on Friday, September 4, 2026.  This means that the advertised prices correspond to the period between August 21 and September 4.

Gasoline Prices are Down, but Diesel prices are up.

The National Energy Secretariat explained that the behavior of maximum sales prices during this period shows a downward trend in 95 and 91 octane gasoline, while diesel shows a slight upward trend.  The agency stated that it maintains constant monitoring of international markets to set appropriate prices in Panama. According to the National Energy Secretariat, this monitoring aims to ensure that maximum sales prices reflect international costs and maintain transparency in the calculation process.
