The Minister of the Interior, Dinoska Montalvo, confirmed that four inmates remain at large from La Joyita prison following the mass escape. Montalvo also reported that, as part of the actions taken after the incident, 12 officials have been dismissed.  The Minister of Government explained that the investigations and actions related to the escape are ongoing, while the authorities continue the search for the inmates who have not yet been located.

La Joyita has New Procedure for Delivering Supplies to Prisons.

During his statements, Montalvo also referred to the new procedure for receiving and delivering supplies to people deprived of their liberty.  The measure establishes controls to strengthen the security, organization, and traceability of packages destined for penitentiary centers.  According to the new procedure, authorized family members must deliver the supplies following the conditions established by the Ministry of Government and respecting the single list of permitted items.  The packages will be subjected to review, registration and control processes before being transferred under custody to the corresponding penitentiary centers.  The new mechanism seeks to strengthen security throughout the entire process, from the receipt of the items to their delivery to the person deprived of liberty.
