Authorities on Alert in Bocas del Toro Panama as Heavy Rains Cause Damage to Homes.

During the early hours of this Sunday, the National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) reported that it is keeping its response personnel active to carry out monitoring and evaluation work, following the heavy rains recorded in different sectors of the province of Bocas del Toro.  According to Sinaproc, initial reports indicate damage to several homes located in the Finca 4 district, specifically in the Pantanal 2 community, as well as areas of the Finca 51 district, in the Débora community, and the Barranco district.  On the other hand, Sinaproc highlighted that it continues to conduct patrols and surveillance in areas considered vulnerable, with the purpose of identifying new impacts and providing a timely response to communities that may be affected by weather conditions.

Similarly, the entity is paying special attention to the Sixaola River, which has turbid waters and a maximum level, a situation that represents a risk for people who are near its channel or other tributaries in the area.  Given this situation, Sinaproc recommended that the population remain attentive to the instructions of the authorities on site and avoid crossing rivers, streams or other bodies of water that show an increase in their flow.  Finally, the institution reiterated its call for citizens to act with caution and stay informed through official channels, while monitoring and evaluation efforts continue in the affected areas.
