High Waves and Rough Seas in the Panamanian Caribbean Until July 14: Warning Issued by Sinaproc
The National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) reported that a prevention notice for waves and adverse periods in the Panamanian Caribbean remains in effect from now 10 until 11:59 pm on July 14, 2026. In case of emergency, the public can contact the telephone numbers 520-4429, 911 or 6998-4809.

New Sinaproc Warning

According to the statement, based on a technical report from the Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology of Panama (IMHPA), maritime conditions will affect different sectors of the Caribbean coast with waves ranging between 1.2 and 3.0 meters. The areas under surveillance are:
- Western Caribbean: Northern Veraguas, Ngäbe Buglé Region and Bocas del Toro, with waves between 1.7 and 2.7 meters.
- Central Caribbean: Lower Coast of Colón and Central Region, with waves between 1.2 and 2.0 meters.
- Eastern Caribbean: Guna Yala region and Costa Arriba of Colón, with waves between 1.7 and 3.0 meters.
- Given these conditions, Sinaproc urged the population, especially bathers, artisanal fishermen, operators of small vessels and residents of coastal areas, to take preventive measures.
- Among the recommendations issued by the entity are: “Avoid entering the sea if conditions worsen,” “Stay alert to bulletins and notices issued by the authorities,” “Take extreme safety measures during maritime activities,” and “Follow the instructions of emergency services and local authorities.”
- The institution also stated that it “maintains constant monitoring of maritime conditions and reiterates to the public the importance of staying informed through official channels.” It also urged special vigilance regarding children, the elderly, and people with disabilities.
