‘They Traffic Drugs and Kill Panamanians Every Day’: Ábrego Defending Transfer of Prisoners to Coiba
Security Minister Frank Ábrego defended the transfer of 29 prisoners to Coiba Island, assured that their human rights were respected, and confirmed that the hunger strike lasted one day.
Public Security Minister Frank Ábrego defended the transfer of 29 high-risk inmates to Coiba Island and reiterated that the measure has only one purpose: To cut off communication between organized crime leaders and the outside world.

“The most important thing we must clarify is that the detainees we are taking to the island are gang leaders, heads of criminal organizations that traffic drugs and kill Panamanians every day,” the minister stated, specifying that all those transferred are convicted.
