To Investigate Potential Harm to the State of Panama, the Public Prosecutor’s Office Seeks More Power

The Office of the Comptroller General is promoting a legal reform that seeks, among other things, to give the prosecutor “more teeth” in the investigation stage of possible financial losses against the State.

The Office of the Comptroller General is promoting a legal reform that seeks, among other things, to give the prosecutor “more teeth” in the investigation stage of possible financial losses against the State.  Barroso, who will remain at the head of the Prosecutor’s Office until the end of this year, stated that one of his main priorities has been to promote a comprehensive reform of Law 67 of November 14, 2008, which regulates the Office of the Comptroller General and the Court of Accounts. This law is 15 years old.
