The Links Behind the Ibero-American University in Panama: Accreditation; Family; Research
Pictured below is the Headquarters of the Ibero-American University. Founded by the former rector of Unachi, Etelvina Medianero de Bonagas, the Ibero-American University obtained institutional accreditation for six years.
While the then rector of the Autonomous University of Chiriquí (Unachi), Etelvina Medianero de Bonagas, was going through her last days at the head of the institution in the midst of a deep administrative and financial crisis, a private university founded by her achieved one of its main academic objectives: accreditation. The publication of the certification, which validates compliance with higher education quality standards, came just one day after Medianero de Bonagas submitted his resignation as rector of Unachi on June 2nd, effective June 8th.
This marked the end of an administration that for years had been mired in controversy due to allegations of nepotism, questions about academic credentials, and financial audits. The Universidad Iberoamericana de Panamá (UNIBERO) balances higher education with a core focus on flexibility, accessibility, and community impact.
