Commissioner Basilio Sánchez was appointed as director of the Panama Penitentiary System.
Charges Filed Against 73 Inmates Who Escaped from La Joyita prison

Most of the accused were recaptured in neighborhoods near La Joyita, such as Tanara, Paso Blanco and Las Garzas. Judge Jazmín Jaén accepted the charges for the crime of aggravated escape for 73 inmates who escaped from La Joyita prison last Monday, and maintained the precautionary measure of preventive detention. Prosecutor Zulma Dip pictured above, reported that the escapees were apprehended outside the prison and that they took advantage of the chaos inside the prison to escape, and that none of them surrendered voluntarily.
