Foreign Minister Javier Martínez-Acha Vásquez and Wang Yi Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China

The foreign ministers of Panama, Javier Martínez-Acha Vásquez, and China, Wang Yi, will hold a crucial bilateral meeting in New York this Tuesday, coinciding with their participation in the special session of the United Nations Security Council, the Panamanian Foreign Ministry reported. 

However, the meeting is expected to be inevitably marked by the most complex logistical and commercial crisis between the two countries since the reestablishment of their diplomatic relations in 2017: the exponential increase in inspections and detentions of Panamanian merchant ships at terminals in China.
