The Official Anthem of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Is Shakira’s Song ‘Dai Dai’

The song ‘Dai Dai’, by Colombian singer Shakira, will be the official song of the World Cup to be played between June and July in the United States, Mexico and Canada, the artist announced this Thursday in a short video posted on her social networks and which will be released on May 14.

Shakira Returns to the World Cup

In the video, recorded at the Maracanã stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Shakira appears dressed in a yellow t-shirt and blue shorts, like the Brazilian uniform, and with several balls along with a group of dancers while singing fragments of ‘Dai Dai’.  The singer enters the Maracanã pitch carrying a ‘Trionda’ ball, the official ball of the upcoming World Cup, places it on the ground as if she were going to make a play and begins the choreography of ‘Dai Dai’ with her dancers, dressed in the colors of teams like Colombia, Argentina and the United States.

“Oe, oe, oe”, the song begins, with a cheerful Caribbean rhythm and English lyrics that refer to belonging to a World Cup for everyone.  The set design is completed with four balls from the World Cups in Germany 2006, South Africa 2010 and Brazil 2014, plus the ‘Trionda’ from North America 2026.  Shakira’s ‘Waka Waka’ (This Time for Africa) was the anthem of the 2010 South Africa World Cup and four years later she repeated it in Brazil 2014 with ‘La La La’, while her hit ‘Hips Don’t Lie?’ was a sensation in 2006, in Germany.  The video, which is one minute and seven seconds long, ends with the phrase “We Are Ready”.
