A Panama Beach Rescued in Costa Abajo de Colón by Community Effort
The initiative sought to demonstrate the commitment of authorities and the population to rescuing the beach.
The activity also aimed to recover and conserve coastal areas by removing as much solid waste as possible. The collection of all types of waste was carried out on the beach of the township of Palmas Bellas, located in the district of Chagres, on the Lower Coast of Colón, in an inter-institutional effort together with residents of the community to clean this beach.
The initiative sought to demonstrate the commitment of authorities and the population to rescuing the beach, in order to raise environmental awareness. Therefore, the activity also aimed at the recovery and conservation of coastal areas by removing as much solid waste as possible, mainly plastics and abandoned bottles, to protect the marine ecosystem and improve the image of the Palmas Bellas district and the Chagres district. Both residents and visitors were urged not to throw trash on the beaches, but to use the designated areas for it.
