A Foreigner Wanted by U.S. Judicial Drug Authorities Arrested Fleeing Through Tocumen Airport

The foreigner is wanted by judicial authorities in the United States for his alleged involvement in conspiracy and international drug trafficking.

The foreigner was apprehended by units of the National Police, through INTERPOL Panama at Tocumen International Airport when he was trying to board a flight to El Salvador.  According to the investigations, the Honduran detainee was part of a criminal organization dedicated to trafficking large shipments of cocaine from South America to North America and other illicit markets, through a complex and transnational operational scheme.  The investigation reveals that this organization used strategic maritime routes to transport illicit substances, making stops in various countries in the region. These stops were used for resupply, transshipment, and route changes, which hampered the tracking of shipments and the work of the authorities. Panama was part of this regional pattern of illegal trafficking.
