SUPER 99 Arrives in Soná Panama and Creates Local Jobs

It is a modern, well-stocked supermarket with competitive prices, designed to meet the needs of residents without them having to travel long distances.

The Super 99 supermarket chain continues its expansion in the country and has now set its sights on Veraguas. This Friday, it inaugurated a new branch in the district of Soná, becoming its second store in the province, where it already operates one in Santiago.  The new store was designed to suit the size of the population of Soná, the second most populated district in Veraguas. It is a modern, well-stocked supermarket with competitive prices, designed to meet the needs of residents without them having to travel long distances.  According to Alejandro Garuz, president and general manager of the chain, with this opening —the 54th nationwide— the inhabitants of Soná save up to an hour of travel to the provincial capital to do their shopping.

Another key point is the creation of 30 direct jobs, which will have a positive impact on the local economy. The region maintains a strong agricultural sector and has tourism potential.  Currently, more than 6,000 people work at Super 99, which continues its expansion plan. A new supermarket is currently under construction in Chepo, and another recently opened in the Monte Madero residential area, in the eastern part of the capital.  The company plans to open 10 new branches in the next two years, both in West Panama, North Panama, the metropolitan area, and in the interior of the country. The strategy aims to reach cities outside the provincial capitals.  Super 99 is also celebrating its 40th anniversary with promotions aimed at its customers nationwide.
