Some of Those Acquitted in the Red Devils Case Hold Positions in Mulino’s Panama Government

The Assembly recently ratified Nicolás Brea as head of the ATTT. His case joins those of Ventura Vega and Jorge Ricardo Fábrega, who went from being investigated in the “Red Devils” case to high-ranking officials.

On the afternoon of March 4, the plenary session of the National Assembly ratified Brea to occupy the most important position at the ATTT, a vital entity in the regulation of public transport, urban mobility and the management of concessions.  The recent ratification of Nicolás Brea as director of the Transit and Land Transportation Authority (ATTT) reopens a story that seemed closed: three figures acquitted in the case where embezzlement was investigated for the compensation to owners of “red devil” buses now occupy positions of power within the government of José Raúl Mulino.  The “red devils” dominated urban transport in Panama for decades, until they were replaced by the Metro Bus system.
