A reader’s view on Oldies
Not everyone agrees with restaurant reviewers. When they do, it’s worth sharing their words. Everyone loves going out for a meal and wherever you are in the world you can normally find somewhere great to eat. Whether you are staying in Panama, in brighton hotels in the UK or you’re in a diner in New York, it’s guaranteed that there will be varying opinions in your party. But whatever happens everyone will have something to say about the food.
The following came from reader Mark Scheinbaum:
Wow! OLDIES RESTAURANT:
Dan Rosen is the perfect, warm host, greeting each new customer as a lifelong friend.
We enjoyed watching Gloria Estefan, the Animals, a huge production featuring Olivia Newton John in Australia…but aside from the fine service and ambiance–it is ALWAYS ABOUT THE FOOD. One of my dinner guests, born and raised in Panama said: "It’s the best hamburger I have had ever in Panama. Period, no question." The chef from Caracas presented the lightest tequeno appetizers this side of the Sabana Grande on a Saturday night. Sauces went from a light plum dip, to a tart apple sweet and sour sauce for the prawn brochette. We found out all meats can be served with a choice of six custom sauces. My wife’s teriyaki steak had the side of bernaise she asked for, and well, I ihave never before had a burger with hollandaise–which I requested–but it was terrific. There are no hassles over jubilado discounts…thanks to Newsroom Panama for alerting us to this great, great new spot. We will be back often.
