Another week of free culture and entertainment in Panama’s Casco Viejo

Casco Viejo is growing to be a cultural center in its own right, with a seemingly endless supply of artistic endeavors
This week, starting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, for the second year, the Macro Festival of fashion, art and culture offers a cornucopia of activities, and, after last year’s successes, some interesting add-ons, including film documentaries.
The festival will be running through to Monday March. 21 and will include music, photrography, sculpture and painting exhibits ,Film showing will be on March 15, 16 and 17 in the Panama Canal Museum from 6:30 pm
Another new event is the participation of a group of creative artista and architects whose project is called "Reality is not enough." Described by Johann Wolfschoon, curator of art,as "an illumination of life for the benefit of those living in the area". A walk through the city will enlighten you.{jathumbnail off}
Organizer Marie Claire Bueno, organizer says that by taking advantage of the geographical location of the isthmus "we can become the regional hub for a week of cultural events and also be a festival that encourages creative proposals from neighboring countries.
One of the drawbacks of big events in the old city has always been transportation, with parking at a premium and access often limited to walking.
That will be taken care of on Friday and Saturday (March 18-19 when roads to the Old City will be closed and free transportation provided from 4:30 pm from the last parking lot of the Cinta Costera.
