ARTBLOCK: Culture walking the streets of Casco Viejo

There may be no such thing as a free lunch, but there is free culture and entertainment going a begging in Casco Viejo, Thursday March 31 with the second edition of ARTBLOCK.
Described by the organizers as a “an informal evening of art and culture crawl" where local businesses and the streets of Casco Viejo host art exhibitions, musical arts and original submissions in all genres it is a pot pourri of events that provide a soupcon of entertainment for everyone, wherever your interests lie. {jathumbnail off}
The event presents 100% original creations by artists, many of whom have faced the problem of exhibitors who demand works substantially similar to what already exists or with known techniques. For new and developing artists that means limitations to showing their creations.
ARTBLOCK through the national PAC Foundation has been approached by foreign artists wishing to participate participate, and they have been encouraged to team up with a local artists, a genuine cultural exchange
In its second year, the venture has expanded from a tour including stops at four local business to the participation of over 20, so it’s not only a way to share in this year’s theme of of "green" but also a guided tour of where to go in the old city, designated as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage.
The organizers, Kimberly Hall, Mariery Young, Elly van Os, and Krista Quinn who have joined together to make this innovative project aim to support local artists in creating new and original works and give them a platform to exhibit and perform.
Along with this ththey will rovide greater exposure for local businesses that support the arts and Increase interest and exposure to the public for local artists, musicians and performers and the opportunity the public to interact with their own local artists.
It will also promote the city of Panama as a expanding center of international art and culture and support increased economic activity in the area.
