CARNIVAL ALERT 1: Hantus virus threat cancels camping

IF YOU WERE thinking of packing your tent and heading for one of the Carnival events in the interior you will have to rethink your accommodation plans.

Camping has been banned because of the fear of the hantus virus which has already caused nine deaths.

The virus is spread by the urine and feces of mice, and authorities, aware of mice nesting in fields have issued an alert. Land holders who allow camping will face heavy fines.
The hantus virus is often fatal, and there is no vaccine.
