Panama beats Cuban favorites to win Caribbean series

 

Los Toros de Herrera of Panama defeated Los Leñadores of Las Tunas de Cuba, 3-1 to win the country’s second crown in the Caribbean Baseball Series, at the Rod Carew Stadium, on Sunday. February  10.

 Panama hosted the tournament with only  five days notice after  the original venue in Venezuela was canceled

Panama last won  the series  in 1950 with the Carta Vieja Yankees, while Cuba was looking for its ninth title

The Caribbean Series returned to Panama after 59 years because the Caribbean Baseball Confederation chose it because of Venezuela ’s political and social problems.

“This is a triumph for all of Panama and for it to be known that there is talent in Panama,” said Bulls manager, Manuel Rodríguez.
