Panama Ministry of Environment – New Online Payment System for Protected Areas
The Ministry of Environment (MiAmbiente) has announced the implementation of a new online payment system for admission to Panama’s marine and terrestrial protected areas such as Volcan Baru in Chiriqui Province pictured above or underwater sanctuaries such as Coiba pictured below. This service is available through its official website, miambiente.gob.pa , allowing visitors to make payment quickly and easily from anywhere. To use this service, users must access the MiAMBIENTE website and select the “Payments for admission to protected areas” tab. From there, they can choose the protected area they wish to visit, make the corresponding payment using a Clave, Visa, or Mastercard card, and receive an electronic receipt of entry.
The Minister of the Environment, Juan Carlos Navarro, highlighted that this system not only facilitates the process for national and international visitors, but also contributes to the reduction of paper use and eliminates bureaucracy associated with payments at Banco Nacional branches. “This advance is aligned with our environmental sustainability policies and seeks to promote responsible and sustainable tourism in the country,” Navarro stressed. The digitalization of this procedure is part of the Ministry’s efforts to modernize services and encourage the influx of visitors to protected areas, promoting a tourism model that respects and conserves the environment.
