OPINION: The garbage dump of political promises
Political patronage has taken root in such a way that it seems that it will remain in our culture, like eating Guandú at Christmas. Deputies and representatives gave silver and, hams becoming the new and grotesque version of Santa Claus. Millions of dollars of our taxes distributed in “Christmas incentives”. With what morals can this government criticize what they now do almost by stealth? Where was the austerity because there is no money in the state coffers? How to believe a minister who calls for containment and when turning his back gives millions for political purposes? How to be sober in the use of resources when others only know how to abuse them to get votes within four years? It is very clear that the speech has nothing to do with the facts. It is disappointing to see that the promise of working for a better country was a promise to be thrown into the garbage dump of unfulfilled commitments. Because what they can never convince us is that they are worried about the Christmas dinner of Panamanian families. What is behind the “gift” of a politician is a business – vote for ham – in order to preserve his status in luxuries and wealth.-LA PRENSA,Dec. 31
