Panamanians nominated for 65th Grammy Awards
The singer-songwriter Rubén Blades and the jazz player Danilo Pérez have been nominated for the 65th edition of the Grammy Awards.
Blades and the Brazilian musical group Boca Livre are nominated in the category “Best Latin Pop Album” for the production titled Pasieros .
“In 1966, when I was young in Panama, I heard for the first time a Brazilian vocal group called ‘Jongo Trio’. From that moment my desire was born to one day record a complete album with a similar band. Boca Livre was a guest on our album Mundo, with Editus and now finally, 56 years later, my dream of making a complete album has come true”, Blades says about Pasieros, on his website.
Other nominees in this same category are Christina Aguilera ( Aguilera ), Camilo ( De adentro pa’ afuera), Fonseca ( Viajante ), and Sebastián Yatra ( Dharma+ ).
The Panamanian jazzman Pérez was nominated, together with The Global Messengers, in the category “best Latin jazz album” and “best instrumental composition” with Crisálida and Fronteras (Borders) Suite: Al-Musafir Blues, respectively.
