Panama’s Pernicious Ballast
Today, Laurentino Cortizo celebrates three years in the presidential throne. They have most likely been the three most difficult in recent decades due to the pandemic. And it has been this health emergency that has revealed the greatest shortcomings of our politicians, because instead of planning how to deal with the consequences of the virus, what we see is a manifest inability to govern.
Never have we been so adrift, without direction, without a route or compass, with a Cabinet that does not solve, since the problems not only do not decrease, but increase. Despite so much incompetence, the country marches by inertia, because there are others carrying the weight of politicians who only know how to be leeches, hindrances that lie in wait for every opportunity to make money from others.
Cortizo must know that his voters are tired, who demand changes in the ministries in the hope of solving problems in public works, education, security and even health. We live in pressing times that require urgent solutions. We do not need more diagnoses or dialogue tables; what is required now are solutions and frankly your Cabinet is no help; in fact, it is a heavy and pernicious ballast. Is there no one in the PRD prepared to occupy these positions? – LA PRENSA, Jul. 1.
