Man charged in killing of American expat
A former employee of the Marriott hotel has been arrested and charged with the weekend murder of an American woman in Paitilla.
Denis Hiller, 48, came to Panama last September as an employee of a company working on the Panama Canal expansion.
A friend found her body with a head wound, in her apartment on Friday February 19.
Humberto Mas, director of the Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences, determined that the she died after receiving a heavy blow to the head with a blunt object.
Daniel Moreno was arrested by the National Police Monday night, February 22, and charged him with murder. Moreno, a former employee of the hotel Marriott, was arrested in Arraiján. He denied killing the woman.
The motive, according to police, was money owed by Moreno to the dead woman.
