Mayor Bosco Vallarino is in a war of words with a former mayor Mayin Correa, now Governor of Panama over the state of the city’s fly ridden fish market.

Mayor Boeco Vallarino targets Governor and mediaThe mayor, who seems to have piled one problem after another on himself, starting with his failure to declare his American citizenship when running for office, has taken a route followed by many politicians:targeting the messenger.
In a harshly worded letter to the governor who had criticized lack of action on the city’s fish market which was castigated after a Ministryof Health inspection on February 11, Vallarino said: “It [the letter] tells you that she has no clear understanding of the cause and depth of the real market problems”. He added:.” You get carried away by the perception of the news from a media that focuses pejoratively on everything related to the Mayor."
In a swift response the governor  asked the mayor what were the conditions of the market before the news appeared in media publications. "The inspection has identified a number of irregularities that did not require budgetary measures, but to implement good hygiene and sanitation," she wrote .
On 11 February the Ministry of Health found during an inspection of the Seafood Market, that it dis not meet he the necessary  hygenic conditions. It was found that there was a scarcity of  ice and water, and an abundance of flies and odors.{jathumbnail off}
