Presidential team off to Qatar and Israel
The President and Vice-President of Panama, the Chief of Police, the head of the tourism authority, the deputy foreign minister and a presidential advisor will leave on Sunday (February 28) on an official mission to Qatar and Israel.
A government release says that accompanying President Ricardo Marintelli on the government jet will be Vice-President and Foreign Minister, Juan Carlos Varela; Deputy Foreign Minister, Melitón Arrocha; Administrator of the Tourism Authority of Panama, Salomón Shamah; Director of the National Police, Gustavo Pérez; and Adviser to the Prime Minister, Larry Maduro.
In Qatar, Martinelli is scheduled to meet with Emir Sheik Hamad Bin Kalifa Al-Thani, who has shown interest in investing in refinery projects in Panama according to information received from the President’s Office.
After Qatar, the team will arrive in Israel on Monday, March 1, where he is slated to meet with Israeli president, Shimon Peres.
Meetings with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Foreign Minister, Avigdor Lieberman, and Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak, also form part of the agenda of Martinelli’s mission
