Unions threaten action to stop changes to labor code
The predicted revolt against government plans to change the Labor Code began within 48 hours of the news being released.
The Trade Construction and Allied Trade Workers Union (SUNTRACS) threatened on Friday, to take to the streets and take any action necessary to prevent the Government from reforming the Code.
At a press conference in of Aguadulce, Saul Mendez, leader of the Union made called on the country’s working class to remain on alert to the measures and be ready to to defend their rights.
"We call on the local unions across the country to close ranks against this problem and prepare to defeat it on the streets with marchesand, if necessary with strikes and pickets in the fight against reforming the Labor Code” "Mendez said.
