Childrens hospital to be extended

Panama’s Children’s Hospital which treats some 200,000 patients each year, is going to get a much needed addition.

Alberto Bissot, director of the hospital, said an eight storey extension will be built on the parking lot and attached to the existing building. It will increase the number of beds by 50 to 450 and a center for burned children, will be located in the former residence of the UK ambassador to Panama on Avenida Balboa.
Bissot said Panamanians believe children need a new hospital with the best specialists, so they do not have to travel abroad, for operations
